Ben Parker in training

United manager Simon Grayson has spoken of his frustration for young defenderBen Parker.

Ben was due to return in the reserves at Huddersfield on Wednesday, but he was forced to withdraw after suffering the effects of a knee injury sustained in training.

The youngster has endured a torrid campaign, having suffered a groin injury 30 minutes into the opening game of the season and subsequently having undergone hip surgery, ruling him out of action for all bar one brief reserve appearance back in September.

"It's been disappointing and frustrating for Ben and I feel for him," said the United manager.

"He took a knock in training which has swollen up and unfortunately he couldn't play on Wednesday. It sums up his season.

"He nearly seems to be back then gets a little injury and every time he looks like he's close something has set him back a little bit.

"This isn't a major thing, and hopefully he'll be okay after the weekend and be fit for a game next week.

"It's frustrating for him because he did so well last year. He's a good defender and gets forward, but he's had 30 minutes of this season and that's been it for him so far.
