Manager Simon Grayson believes new signing Paul Dickov can make "a huge contribution" between now and the end of the season as Leeds United look to secure a return to the Coca-Cola Championship.
The 37-year-old put pen to paper on a short-term contract with the club on Wednesday and, after making his debut in the reserves, he is likely to go straight into the squad for Saturday's game against Brentford atg Elland Road.
"He's going to be a good signing," said the United boss. "He's had a great career, he's got great ability, he's got a hunger and a desire and his experience can only benefit us as a club and the younger players as well.
"He might not start every game, but he'll be pushing everyone and he will make a big contribution to what we are looking to achieve.
"I'm delighted he got 90 minutes in for the reserves on Wednesday and even in that game, in the last few minutes, he was pressing and running past players who were younger than him.
"There's no worries about his fitness. He's trained with us and we know what he's like. You can see his desire in training.
"He's played at the top level, our fans want to see a big effort and he will provide that. His experience will be important and some of the younger players will learn about movement and know-how.
"He's here to prove a point as well, he doesn't want his career to go out on a low note. He wants to win promotion here.
"Whether he scores 10 goals, two goals, or no goals he will contribute to this team."
