Antony Sweeney levels for Hartlepool

United manager Simon Grayson admitted he was "disappointed, but not downhearted" after Saturday's 2-2 draw at Hartlepool.

The home side salvaged a point with a second equaliser of the game in the 93rd minute after two Luciano Becchio goals appeared to have secured the win for Grayson's men.

"I thought we were comfortable in the first half of the game, did a lot of things right and got the goal," said the manager.

"You expect them to come out and have a go at you in the second half and they got a lifeline with their first goal, but you are disappointed to draw when you are 2-1 up in injury time.

"Any time there is only goal in it you do need an extra one, and we didn't get that. Their first goal was a decent strike, but the second one was disappointing.

"It was a good delivery in, but we had bodies in the box. The lad had gone down like a sack of spuds for the free-kick and it was a soft, cheap one to give away.

"These things happen and you have to take it on the chin. It's another point away from home. I'm disappointed we didn't win, but I'm not downhearted.

"After the FA Cup in midweek this was a big one mentally and physically, and we came through it. It's just disappointing we came out of it with one point and not all three."

The biggest positive for United was the two goals from Becchio, who took his tally to three in two games.

"We've worked with him over past couple of weeks about staying around the box more and its paying dividends," added the boss.

"He's getting back to where he was some weeks and months ago."
